What is Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL)?

Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited is one of the biggest gas companies in Pakistan. It is currently providing gas to more than six million consumers in North Central Pakistan via widespread network in Azad Jamu & Kashmir, Punjab and Khyber Pakhunkhwa. Initially when the company was founded in 1963, it was private limited then it became public limited company in January 1964 under the companies ACT 1913 and it is certified ISO “14100:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007 Standards. 11 sites are registered specifically under “SMART2” for SNGPL by (PAK-EPA) Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency.  The Sui Multan System which contains (217 miles of 16 inch and 80 miles of 10 inch diameter pipelines) was run by Pakistan Industrial Development (PIDC) is now taken by SNGPL company. Not only that, it is has also overtaken Attock Oil Company Limited’s Dhulian-Rawalpindi-Wah system (82 miles of 6 inch diameter pipeline). The organization began by providing a gas service in two regions which were Rawalpindi and Multan. The average selling was 47 MMCFD to a total number of sixty seven customers at that time. The company has now expanded its activities as Construction, Procurement and Engineering to do the designing, planning and construction of pipelines for various organizations. Now, it has over fifty years of experience in the field of operating and maintaining high pressure gas distribution and transmission systems.

The previously named Shares Department is now Corporate Affairs is statutory section was founded in 1964 with the origin of organization. The vital role of department is to arrange board and shareholders meetings. 

  • Distribution (South) 

The main responsibility of this department is to perform reliable, efficient and safe distribution of natural gas via the utility pipes to the consumers. The distribution network length is almost 94,263 KM.

  • Finance

Engineering Services (ES) department has five sub sections named LPG-LNG, Quality Assurance, Planning and Development, Metering and Corrosion Control. Engineering services offers technical services.

The company formed the department named LPG / LNG to undertake projects of LPG and LNG to move ahead following arenas; LNG Project to cater to long term gas shortages issue, LPG Auto Gas in transport sector to provide alternate fuel option, Bottling and Marketing of LPG cylinders etc.
